THOUGHTFUL GIFTS. YOUR WAY.
How to choose gifts for a child who loves building
Building gifts can be a great fit for a child who likes creating, solving problems, or taking things apart. Start with how they build today rather than choosing the biggest box.
Choose the kind of building they enjoy
Some children love following detailed instructions. Others prefer an open-ended collection of pieces and the freedom to invent. A model kit and a reusable construction system can offer very different experiences, even when both are labeled building toys.
Check the difficulty and the parts
Look at the manufacturer’s age guidance, the size of the pieces, and whether an adult will need to help. Consider younger siblings who may have access to the same play area. Do not assume a gift is appropriate solely because it matches an interest.
Give them a new challenge, without starting over
If they already have a favorite system, a compatible expansion may be more useful than an unrelated set. Confirm compatibility before purchasing. For a fresh direction, consider a mechanical model, an architecture activity, or a hands-on engineering book.
Plan for the finished creation
Check the dimensions and think about where the gift will be built, played with, and stored. A smaller set they can use repeatedly may be more practical than a large display model.
